could my 4 yr old be autistic, please help me.

as a baby she used to always scream for no reason, i tried everything to settle her and nothing worked. she has always been quite advanced when she was 2 she could tell you the alphabet, now she struggles too. her speach is good, except she uses her words backwords, like "do it can i mummy". she has always had anger issues for some reason i dont know, ive tried asking her what is wrong and all i get is "i dont know why". Today at school during dinner time, she picked up a dinner tray and hit 2 boys with it and the teacher said she had made a mess of them. i asked her why she did it and again she said "i dont know why" and got frustrated. she keeps getting into my 9 month old sons cot during the early morning, first time she did it i explained to her the dangers and told her not to do it again, she said she wouldnt, but she did second time i asked her what could happen she said told me what i explained, then she did it again but this time put some clothing over his head and around his neck and also put a large toy in there. she also keeps picking him up out of his bouncy chair and laying him on the sofa then walking away from him, she did that the other night while i was running her a bath, then she came in got in her bath then told me connor was on the sofa, i ran into the room and caught him just before he rolled over onto the floor. i have been to the doctors, health visitors, and the hospital with some of this info not all of it ad they told me not to worry, but im very worried ive been fighting this behaviour for almost 3 yrs now and its getting really out of hand now, no one will help me. i love my daughter and want to help her so badly. my gut feeling is telling me she is autistic or there is something not quite right, please get back to me asap. thanks

I would suggest you make an appointment with a developmental pediatrician or pediatric neurologist. If you have concerns it's worth getting her checked out. In my area it takes a long time to get an appointment but you can also ask to be put on their list for cancellations. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer, but ive been trying to get her assessed but they keep telling me shes too young, and to leave it for a few years. i darent leave it. when she was a bit younger she use to shut everyones gates down the street, even if there were shut she would open them and shut it again and i mean every gate she didnt miss one when i tried to take her hand and walk a little faster she use to scream in a rage and shout i need to shut the gates. so id put her down and she carry on with shutting the gates. when i take her to school now we can only have one route to school, if i change the route she panicks and starts screaming.

If you have concerns, absolutely have your daughter assessed. Much of what you describe is not atypical for children her age but it sounds like there are ongoing issues. One thing to do immediately is to make sure she doesn't have the opportunity to be alone with your son if there's any possibility she might even inadvertently hurt him. I’m not hearing characteristics that suggest an autism spectrum disorder (i.e., deficits in social interaction and repetitive behavior patterns. But, it does sound like you need some help and having her assessed formally is a good first step in that direction.
