Please help an anxious mother

I am not sure if there is anything wrong with my son or not.
Our only child is 6 years old.

He is what we say in lay mans term a bookworm. He knows all the 44 presidents and their vice president's names, the names of all the satelites of different planets, extensive knowledge of the world map, names of all roads and intersections in our state, Knowledge of Constellations,... etc.
Loves to work on computer like microsoft money, powerpoint, Google sketchpro etc.
Very good in music.
Excellent memory and scientific understanding for a 6 year old.
Does 2nd grade math and reading.
Not atall interested in toys.
Doesnot respond if he is reading a book when called.
Has trouble following directions
Tendency to manage others.
Has trouble focussing
Hates to do coloring, cutting and gluing projects.
Handwriting is not good.
Does something with his fingers and cannot sit in one place when he is thinking deeply.
Has trouble making friends. He is more friendly with older kids and parents rather than kids his age.
Has poor eyesight.

I have heard children call my son wierdo. Is something really wrong with him.

Sounds like my husband and my brother.  My husband had to go to see a psychiatrist for counseling with social anxiety issues when he was in middle school.  He's a really brilliant man with a PhD.  He is like a walking talking encyclopedia.  He watches a TV show or reads a book and he can recite a lot of things verbatum.  The psychiatrist advised his parents to have him socialize with people outside of his age level.  So he socialized with adults and smaller children and got active in things like bridge with his father (played with adults) and drama club.  My brother was also very nerdy and geeky and had no friends when he was in school.  Nobody wanted to be friends with him because he was too smart and knew all the answers to everything.  My brother and I grew up in the 70s and 80s, and when he was in 3rd or 4th grade, the Commodore Vic 20 computer came out and then a couple years later the Commodore 64 came out which was good because he was having computer problems with his Vic 20 and had decided to take it completely apart.  My brother taught himself how to program in Basic and he was really into writing computer programs that had graphics.  He made me sit and read out numbers to him that he had figured out and written down so he could type them in to the computer.  He also made me learn how to program in Basic when I was in 3rd grade.  I had to do my homework before he'd let me play a computer game.  My brother was in elementary school when all this was going on!  So, no, he did not have any friends because he had no interests that overlapped.  He was friends with my one friend that I had who lived across the street.  She was nice to both of us.  She didn't have friends because she was really tall for her age.  By the time she was in 4th grade she was 6 feet tall.  Her parents were both 6'8" and 6'10", so she was destined to be tall.  It's amazing how mean kids can be just because you are different in some way.

Since doctors are figuring out a lot of things, I would take him to get evaluated.  If he can get therapy to learn how to cope with some of the social issues, he'd probably be happier in school.  My brother and husband were completely miserable when they were small kids.  Actually I had problems in school too growing up, but I didn't have the "I'm smart" reason.  I was just different.  Kind of like Millhouse on the Simpsons when he says "I'm not a nerd.  Nerds are smart."

you should take the list you wrote and get him evaluated by a pediatric neurologist or a developmental pediatrician....they are the ones who can give you any sort of diagnosis and from there you can learn what to do to help him
