Autism?

My son is 4. About a year ago he started flailing his arms. Not flapping but just like throwing them everywhere. Sometimes when he does this his head does it too while his eyes try to stay looking right. I have taken him to a pediatric neurologist and they claimed he had 'stereotypies'. After being referred to an OT that we stopped because they were not helping or even focusing on why he was referred, I firmly believe it's something more. He used to play by himself or next to kids but now he loves playing With and chasing other kids. I don't know where to go or what to do?  Please help!

My son has mild autism.  What other symptoms does he have?  Does he make eye contact?  Does he do the arm mannerisms when he is excited?  Have you talked to your school district for an assessment?  If he has "autistic like behaviours" he should qualify for some services from the school district, like free preschool with maybe speech and OT.  They will have professionals who can help you.
