Lining up cars.....

by LondonDad, Oct 24, 2009 09:31AM
I have posted on here before and now have narrowed down my sons behaviours.

He does everything normal except he has doesn't have any logical speech and now lines up his cars into long straight lines. He is 2 years and 8 months and has expressive and receptive langudage delay.

Otherwise he has good eye contact, is sociable and plays normally.

He is seeing a paediatrician in a few weeks and is currently having speech therapy.

Is the lining up of toys a significant behaviour?

Thanks

Lining up toys is a common feature of Autistic kids, but plenty of not Autistic kids do it for a while too. The concerns come when engaging in this type of repetitive play takes over and very little "normal" play occurs. I know you are really concerned about you son from what you have written in your other posts but at this point all you can do is wait for your son's evaluation ( which is frustrating; I know, I have been there) and work with the speech therapist to improve his language skills.

Best wishes.
