Not sure what this is ??

I have a friend who once mentioned to me in conversation something I didn't further discuss with them, because I wasn't sure of what it was, but I probably should have clarified. My friend said, "I am high functioning with no guardian." My thoughts first went to possibly that he meant he had a form of Autism; Asperger's, but I wasn't sure. This person has had issues regarding their back as well, (injury) so I thought Maybe it was related to that, but I went back to my original thought and hunch and I am just wondering-  does 'high functioning' with 'no guardian' typically refer to a person with Asperger's syndrome? Thank you for your help as I was just thinking of this topic he had brought up- I do appreciate any feedback.

Thank you Dr. Mathur, I appreciate your feedback. I have heard in articles and from different people that 'high functioning' most often refers to Asperger's..thank you again for your response.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
Well, yes, your friend could have high functioning Autism or Asperger’s. It could be high functioning cerebral palsy or post any head injury. However, without examining him and knowing his medical history, it is difficult to say what he meant. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
