Residential Facility

Im wondering if anyone has had to consider a residential setting for your child that has aspergers? I wasnt prepared for this and in the last 3 months this is what is being suggested to us. Im so devastated for this was never mentioned to me until now! Not 7 years ago when he was diagnosed. We recently had an IQ test and it dropped from 72 to a 62. Im so lost and if someone has some hope or answers I so appreciate it.

I have never heard of anyone putting their child in a residential setting.  Where do you live?  I'm just a bit shocked that anyone would suggest something like that.  Aspergers is very much livable if you understand what I'm saying...I'm not saying it's easy.  I have a daughter with autism and she's got friends who have been diagnosed with aspergers. It's definitely hard and overwhelming for everyone in the family. This may be none of my business but why would they suggest that to you?
