Something's wrong

My son is 13, Autistic "severe" non verbal I've accepted that...  Over the last 3 days, he has been acting strange..   His eating has changed, he no longer wants to eats what he likes/ loves, and doesn't want to eat period.  He has been sad and irritable, crying and frowning...  He's terrified of being alone in the dark lately and would usually just sit in his room with the lights off and now he is not sleeping.I'm not sure what gives he isn't sick just melancholic.  Has anyone else encountered this??

It sounds like something is wrong physically. I know a child with autism who broke his arm and the family did not know right away because he couldn't communicate it. I also think that people with autism process pain and illness differently than typicals. If this continues much longer, bring him to the doctor. This is what I say to the doctor, especially when it ends up there is nothing wrong, "I needed to bring her in because she's acting strange, but cannot tell me what's wrong. I'd rather be safe than sorry."

Could he be getting ill?  do you have care providers that you can call to help determine?
