reasons a baby doesnt cry at birth

Hi!
A baby cries at birth due to changes in the breathing system, changes in the way the blood flows, and due to coming in contact with cool air, and cooling of the cord. Any disturbance in these mechanisms fails to start the gasp reflex which is the first step in the lung taking over the breathing mechanism. If a bay does not cry at birth, then the lungs will not open up, and the baby will not be able to breathe. Sometimes the baby dies during delivery. This is called still birth. Naturally, this baby will not cry. Poor development of brain, heart and other such congenital formations along with congenital defects in the breathing system—nose, lung, windpipe can be the other cause.  Take care!
