my five year old is obsessed with dairy and sugar. I have tried to only give her healthy snacks but she melts down all the time if she doesn't have sugar or cheese. Anyone out there been through this before?

If you can get her to eat some healthy snack then you can reward her with the cheese.  For instance, a bite of an apple the she gets a little piece of cheese.  Eventually you can probably fade out the cheese.  Another thing to think about is b/c she has sensory issues she may just not like the texture of the healthy food you are giving her.  She may not want to touch it.  I've seen children with Autism who just don't want to pick up certain foods in their hands b/c they don't like the way it feels on their fingers.  If all else fails I would just cut out the cheese and sugary foods.  She will be upset and it will get worse at first but once she sees that you aren't going to give in she will stop getting upset.  I don't know if you are doing discrete trials with her or not but if you are you could use those foods only for rewards for her.  Your therapists will LOVE you b/c it sounds like she loves them!  Just break the cheese and sweets into REALLY tiny pieces.  Good luck to you!
