not speeking

Have 2 1/2 y.o. granddaughter who does not speak. Have been able to teach her sigh language. She makes verbal sounds but does not seem interested in speaking.

what does her pediatrician say. i have read an article about children not speaking in public even though they know how and it is a form of anxiety and also the lack of speech could be a developmental issue , even autism often shows itself  in a lack of speech
