seperation anxiety

my 6 year old autistic boy has recently developed anxiety over staying at my sisters home. since he was diagnosed at 2 yrs old, he has stayed there a couple of nights allowing me to go to work. however last yr both my parents were ill and my father passed away later in the year. my sister became their main carer and therefore my son didnt stay as much and i had to reorganise my work hours. unfortunately he now goes into complete meltdown if he has to stay over there, even if he stays for a couple of hours he doesnt want to and is constantly asking when i am coming back. he is happy to go there as he gets spoiled rotten but as long as i am there aswell. he has no problem going to school or going to his dads overnight once a fortnight. this is causing me major problems at work and i am unable to have any kind of social life. please can you give me any guidance as to what i can do

Find something to take and keep his attention for while you are gone. If he likes video games, that could work. Basically, it would be like a child without autism. All children NEED something to keep their attention, or they are on to the next thing. I had a friend who's teen age son has his likes. He was content on certain things, and his attention could be held for a long time so that she could get done things she needed to.
