hypogammaglobulinemia?

What does having a low IgA of 59,a low IgG of 551,a low IgM of 34,a low Kappa 477,a low Lambda 224,a Serum Protein Electrophoresis all within normal range except a low Gamma 0.6.Routine Chemistry showed a low eGFR of 55.Routine Hematology all normal.Automated differential normal.Diagnosis is Hypogammaglobulanemia,which I understand.Immunofixation/immunotyping electrophoresis showed no monoclonal protein.A Strep Pneum AG screen,strep Pneumo Antigen C Positive? I am a 53 yr. old white female.Can you tell me in terms I can understand,what this all means?.I was sent to an asthma,allergy,immunology Dr.,who is sending me to an Infectious Disease Dr,but not until the end of November.

This disorder is typically the result of an opportunistic infection after you've had an organ transplant. Opportunistic meaning something that you wouldn't normally acquire unless your immune system was very weakened. Low IgA---these are blood and body secretion immunoglobulins (normal levels 280-300). IgG is also in the blood and is probably the most important one you need to look at (normal levels 800-900). IgM is the first antibody produced by your body during the primary response to an antigen. I'm only a nursing STUDENT, and I do not know what Pneumo Antigen C is, but if I had to take a guess--Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (opportunistic fungal infection). Best of luck to you.
