Allergic to myself?

Okay, so a little about my issue, when I was 16 I started getting random hives, from head to feet. My hands would swell, lips, eyes, feet, every thing, and at random times. Mostly every thing happened evening into the late morning. It would go on for months every day and then stop for months. Nothing ever changed, I went to ALOT of docs. One doc even said I was allergic to myself. I am 25 now and it is happening so much I really don't know what to do. One time every thing got so bad, the hives came face puffed up and (something new) I almost lost all vision. This happened within a few min. When I went to the ER they told me I had lupus. I went to other docs then and was told that I did not have lupus. (that happened when i was 18), And two years ago, one doc told me I could have a rare form of cancer but for me not to be worried because at the moment my blood tests looked okay(really?!?!?)
But I guess what my question is, what is wrong with me? Any ideas? I never had any issues up until I was 16.  And now it seems I can't go a night without clawing at my legs, face or something. It gets hard to breath, and sense this almost always happens at night I get scared that my throat will close or something. Docs have no clue what is going on, they always give me some allergy med, that will work for an hour or so. Last night my foot started getting hives, little ones. Then they turned into one huge hive on the bottom of my foot and I couldn't walk because my foot swelled up so bad, that the swelling went to my ankle and my toes that I couldn't bend any thing. I have 4 kids and my husband is deployed and its scary if something were to happen to me, or if this could be a really serious issue and wont be caught in time. Please help.

Hi I have the same thing and I have had to quit working out (excersing) completely anything that applies pressure like a barbell or weight will cause swelling very itchy i might add. Stress is also a factor I might not even think im stressed but my body knows better I guess lol I have also have swelling with my lips cheeks and throat will randomly swell ..I found zirtec to make me very sluggish so ive had luck with generic claritin (lortitdine) but....I have to take 5 or 6 at a time yes..I do ...im 5 ft tall and weigh 105lbs but it works for faster  relief. I also noticed that besides pressure and stress there is something in subways ( sandwich place) bread that triggers it dominoes pizza as well so there are many different factors. I was tested for lupus and didnt it have I was told I do have an infection in my blood but not to worry about it ..WHAT!!!???? Ya so I went to a allergist who says it's either accurired or heridetery angiodema. And there is really nothing I can do about it so I just pray every night I wake up and have normal features and its hard to plan future get togethers or plans because it will just show up! Any way your not alone ..oh and I had 1 episode of my lips swelling up 17 yrs ago for the 181st time and then nothing for 13 yrs and I got the stomach flu and had dental work which they say is a factor and have had this problem ever since that day of the flu the dental work was 2 says prior . Good luck.. glad to see we're not alone ..take care.

I know this is a bit late in the game, but a friend's daughter went thru this for 2 years before finally getting diagnosed.  It turned out she was positive for a candida overgrowth combined with a gluten sensitivity.  She follows a strict candida diet and will have to for about a year--but, her symptoms have abated and she's feeling 100% better.

good luck!

I have had the food allergy test done before. and nothing came back. i was on an allergy med, zertec? i think its called it can be bought in stores now.  and prednizone  (not the best speller) and i had an epipen and inhaler, how ever sense it is unknown what is wrong with me i am on tricare, they wont pay for something for me to have 'just in case'. I actually have been fighting with myself about going to the er tonight, for some reason it is really hurting to breath. i mean i can breath just fine i think. but my entire chest down to the bottom of my ribs feels like im being crushed. and i also have hive starting on my arms, and stomach. im just worried i will sit in er for hours and nothing will come from it.

Have you had allergy testing?  What about food allergies?  I would think you would be on an antihistamine every day and carry an epipen for emergencies.  Maybe there are shots you could take if they found out your triggers.  Have you seen an actual allergist?
