Any ideas?

Hi! I'm 42 y.o. female. Recurrence of problem which first appeared in 2003. Current episode has some symptoms not experienced before. May June chronic breast pain extending into axillae. Over the summer, ear ache at night in bed. July August chronic neck pain following painting a bedroom ( RSI in neck for years, pain severe, but usually sorts itself in a day or two, not this time!). A couple of episodes of vision irregularities, whcih usually terminated in migraine. (Previous history migraines only occasionally with no visual effects). Wasn't concerned about any of the above! September vision problems in work one Monday, left early, full blown migraine by the time I got home. 4 days later, woken by migraine 3am and chronic musculo skeletal pain since then. Sunday night vision problems in bed, cold seat and nausea, nausea persistent since then, feels like motion sickness nausea. Light headed and feel 'weird.' Daily pain in hips, hands, thumbs very sore, feet, neck, back. Right arm very sore when lifting e.g. kettle. In good form, but nights are difficult, now waking up with hip pain during the night. Also pins and needles during the night in hands or feet, sometimes hands numb. This week feeling 'woozy' a lot of the time. Not taking any medication unless absolutely necessary. Repeated bloods normal, NSAID's no real effect, ditto antibiiotics. MRI of head and back normal. Opthalmic examination clear. Heading to see rheumatologist and neurologist next week. Really need to get to the bottom of this. Although I'm in good form, am starting feel concerned, as finding work difficult. Would appreciate your thoughts/ideas!

Lymes or infectious Mycoplasma infection.  I see it all the time.  If you have or are going to get a Lymes test, be forewarned they are highly innacurate.  They are both intracellular bacterial infections that are hard to diagnose but your symptoms are exactly mine and I was diagnosed as having lyme, Mycoplasma Fermentans-Incognitus bacteria and coinfections of Bartonella and Babesia

BTW, go to IMMED.org and look unfder Autoimmune illnesses caused by Mycoplasmas, Borrelia (Lymes) and Viral and fungal concurrent illnesses causing chronic illness.  get back to me if you need help.

Heart skip beats and chest pain?  UTI like symptoms?  IBS like symptoms, loud noises bother you, vertigo, sometimes legs feel like buckling?

ewford thanks for your input. No heart skips or chest pain. IBS symptoms over the last few years. UTI uncommon. Sensitive to noise- was in the GP surgery recently and could barely tolerate noise of someone texting beside me! Here tonight with family at family dinner and, as the day has gone on, I feel 'weird'. Sometimes feel as if legs will buckle, speech fine but sometimes have to think carefully what I'm speaking,as if speech slightly difficcult. V. weird. In good form, but in pain all day.
Have been tested for Lyme disease during previous flare ups ( I'm a vet, living in ireland, but have visited the States in the past). Will follow up the Mycoplasma link. Thanks.

Hi again Ewford. Since my last mailing I ended up in hospital ( the first time in my life that I was in a sick bed in hospital!) Lost the power in both upper arms, speech difficulties - mixing up words etc. Am now on medication- docs think it may be fibromyalgia and possible migraine complicating the fibromyalgia signs.
Still in pain, lost the power in left arm briefly yesterday. Speech ok.
can't seem to get an answer as to what is causing this. In addition to generalised pain, vision and speech difficultites, I've had a no. of episodes of painful lesions at the edge of my lips and tongue lesions ( the latter have previously occurred during pain flare ups).
Re. your questions, pain has occurred in soles of feet and ankles during flare ups, in addition to hips, nback, arms etc. Funny you should mention cold sensations, the latest clinical sign has been a sensation like a cold flush moving over my body; has happened a few times this week. No anxiety issues at all, in good form and no OCD.
Bloods all normal, tested for infectious diseases due to exposure to bovine animals. One medic still wonders if this might be pernicious anaemia
(even though B12 levels ok).

Even the mildest magnesium deficiency causes noise sensitivity. I've had this deficiency severely. Very understandable why it can be misdiagnosed as fibromyalgia! Magnesium deficiency is a common cause of migranes (migraines) as well. Would be worth checking your RBC (red blood cell) magnesium levels out.  Make sure they are at the top of the reference range.

Look on wikipedia for the articles on paresthesia and peripheral neuropathy for causes of pins and needles/numbness. I have autoimmune pernicious anaemia actually. Despite "normal" B12 serum, i would recommended a urinary methylmalonic acid test done.  This test is the most specific test for vitamin B12 deficiency. Methymalonic acid rises just 10 days after a B12 deficiency symptom starts. I have permanent nerve damage from severe B12 deficiency. Rule of thumb with vitamin B12 serum. The upper end of the reference range is where you want to be! :)

I'll stick to my Lymes/Infectious mycoplasmas possibility.  Redstar has some interesting points BUT her information , in my opinion, has no "known" etiology, meaning "we don't know why it happens".

Mycoplasmas AND Lymes Borrelia ( and other borrelia) cause neuropathy.  That's a fact.  Been proven.  check out IMMED  org  and look under Autoimmune illnesses.  You will find chronic illness (all your symptoms) has been found to be caused by NUMEROUS factors ie: several latent viruses accumulated over the years,  one or several INTRACELLULAR bacterial infections (these will NOT show up on standard tests!) and since the immune system is compromised, fungal infections will flourish ( macrophages are damaged, when damaged they cannot "clean up" fungal infections inside.  Since the bacteria is INSIDE your cells, the standard Labcorp and Quests tests are useless.

The treatment for this type of illness is to use long term antibiotics to kill/keep in check the bacteria, boost the immune system to help fight off the infection and take probiotics and nutracellular items to kill fungal infections

Sorry, forgot to add that I'm not a Dr, but have consulted with several Nobel prize nominees and Nobel winners to help me understand the most up to date information on HHV6, Mycoplasmas and fungal infections.  This is only my educated opinion, but further testing is needed.  Come to the Lymes page, post ALL of your symptoms and you will get a TON of info that is right at your fingertips.  This will save you from needlessly going to Dr after Dr who can't understand your symptoms and give you several different diagnosis but not CURE the infections causing this.  Just my opinion.

Hey Cath1968,
Welcome to the forum.
There are many contributing factors, co-factors, causative agents and initiating conditions that come into play according to your symptomology.
Attributing your issues to one only deficiency or imbalance will not explain the plethora of "unexplained" normal results from various tests and examinations.
The multi-systemic nature of your issues is consistent with and only with underlying Pathogenic Infectious Conditions.
The deficiencies mentioned by Red Star should be checked as well.
Please follow Ewford's advice to explore this further, as this may be the only way to get to the bottom of this.
Wishing you well.
Niko
