Anyone know anything about ADEM recovery?

My question is for my partner.  He was diagnosed with ADEM in March this year, very slow progression where he went down over a course of 7 weeks.  Started with what he described as a weird feeling behin his eyes and dizziness whilst we were on holiday in Spain.  Things got worse when we got home where he started to forget things and I took him to hospital a few days later.  To cut a very long story short he eventually was moved to a Neuro unit and was given immunoglobulin with no effect then 3 days of steroids which picked him up a bit.  He has very bad double vision and dizziness, very unsteady on his feet, virtually no short term memory (can't put down any new memories), patchy long term memory, behavioural, congtivie and social issues, aggression, mood swings, inappropriate behaviours.  We are now 7 months on and he has been in a rehab unit for 4 months,  He has made some improvements but my question is how much can I expect him to rehabilitate if he can't put down any new memories?

We have been together for 9 years and he doesn't know my name.  We  have a 1 year old daughter and he doesn't know she is his.  Is there still a chance this amnesai will improve even after 7 months?  Help!!
