Autoimmune?

I am hypothyroid for the pas t 4 years and take .50 mg. of synthroid and have broken out in hives for about 6 months. I had allergy tests done and all are neg., but I did show positive for ana and ssa antibodies. I at this time do not have any symptoms except for these hives.  Do you think they are related to Sjogrens or Lupus? Or an underlying infection?  Thank you

Hi.
May i ask is your hypothyroidism, an autoimmune type. That being Hashimotos?

Hashimotos is an autoimmune thyroid illness, which can also give you hives.
I have graves disease which is the opposite to you but is still a thyroid auto-immune disease and it has given me hives.

Once you have one auto-immune disease this tends to open the doors to others.
I would ask to be referred to a rheumy, for a full evaluation, and also ask is your thyroid condition, an auto-immune one by the name of Hashimotos.

Good luck and im wishing you well
Nicola
