Cryoglobin Test?

Hi Doc,
I cleared the hep c virus 10 years ago, by 6 months of Peg-interferon and Ribivirin (I had 3A genotype). Now I am experiencing Protein in my urine (500+) and a little swelling in my ankles and cold toes (when ac is on). I am seeing a Nephrologist and a Hematologist who ran a number of blood and urine tests. Tests showed a "Faint Mono IgG, everything else is normal - Kidney tests etc.
Question could the Cryoglobin test be positive although they said it is Negative.
This is how Lab Corp ran the test.
Specimen must be drawn in a prewarmed tube and kept at 37 C while clotting - separate Serum from cells immediatly after clotting formation and then transfer serum into a clean serum tube. Thanks

Doc, One more thing. After the serum is separated, it is not required to be kept at the cold temperature while it is transported to the Main Lab? Thanks again

Hi!
Since croglobulins are very temperature sensitive, there is every chance that they are destroyed before they are detected. The method adopted by the lab was correct. Of course this is not so simple, but yes, first blood is collected in a pre-warmed syringe, and then serum is separated and tested under strict temperature control.
The only way to be sure is to repeat the test in a different lab, or do other associated tests depending on what condition is suspected. Take care!
