Feedback please! More than just Hashimoto's...

Under 18 yrs
- low body temperature (96.1 unless very sick)
- low bp (80/50, when sick 90/60)
- mostly underweight
- SEVERE food and environmental allergies
- excessive sleeping (required many more than 8 hrs a night)
- once a year, every year until age 18, SEVERE flu (I would be very ill for a week & have no/few recollections of that week)
- yeast infections
- caught EVERY disease I was immunized against - by age 2 they refused to immunize anymore

After 18 yrs
- low body temperature (96.1 unless very sick)
- blood pressure a little higher (95/65, higher if sick)
- thyroid (under active) has caused rapid weight gain
- thyroid meds get the numbers in line, but do not help with weight loss or some symptoms
- exercise 1-2 hrs a day, 4-7x a week, mixed activities (swimming, walking, jogging, dancing, cardio, stretching, yoga, abs, etc)
- at age 18, I looked like I was 35+ with gray hair, wrinkles
- have been diagnosed with chicken pox 3x, measles 1x, small pox 1x (as an adult!)
- SEVERE food and environmental allergies (have since identified and eliminated most)
- unauthorized hair growth
- still need more than 8+ hours of sleep
- hair loss
- no weight loss!  :(

Other things pop up here and there.  Blood type changes between two types.  My grandmother had all gray hair by 25 yrs old, no teeth by 25 yrs old, and breast cancer at 18 yrs old.

My immune system literally has a forgetful memory.  I defy the "normal" stats.

Have had kidney stones, have bled out, continually dislocate my 1st ribs, some odd bone fractures, pelvic rotates...

My face and neck are always swollen.  Less so as I identify and eliminate more food allergies.

Any feedback?  My current doc (new) is focusing on getting my thyroid numbers "in range" before looking at anything else.  Taking Armour 60mg, once a day.

Suggestions?

well they say low vitamin D can make you feel very tired, and lethargic, amongst other things, are you taking other vitamins alongside the vitamin D for proper absorption.
Also try taking a selenium supplement of 200mg, daily for the anti-bodies.

Good luck.

My doctor is reluctant to test or to deviate from her perceived path.   All of the drs I have seen over the years are the same way.

I just received my lab work back.  I take Armour, 60mg, daily.  Been on that since Nov 09.  Prior to that synthyroid.

TSH 1.92 (range .45-4.50)
T4 - 1.14 (range .82-1.77)
Triiodothyronine, free, serum - 3.6 (range 2.0-4.4)
Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab - 73 (range 0-34) **HIGH**
Vitamin D -20 (range 32-100)  **LOW**   <--- this was after 2 months of 50k IU a week
Antinuclear Antibodies Direct - Negative (this is the test for Lupus, I think)

Thoughts?

How do I get my Vit D to stay up?
How do I get my TPO down???

Hi  just reading your post, and i have a few things you listed going on with myself. I have had graves disease for 12 years just had my second surgery in 2009.
Now im told i am hypothyroid, ive been on levothyroxine for 7 months and to no avail can i bring my levels right.
You mentioned allergies, low BP, and low body temp, and that you need a lot of sleep.
Can i ask have you had your adrenal glands tested, because that might be were your problems are contributing with the thyroid issue.
I have just had my adrenals checked, and now know ive some serious problems there.
I always have low BP, and low body temp, and i have vitiligo allergies, and hair loss, bald patches, and i dont think im converting the thyroxine very well, causing me all these problems
I would have known but i was that sick i paid to see a nutritionist, naturopath, who put me on the right track.
Im not a doctor, but can relate to your symptoms, and would see to just having a saliva test for adrenals, they are relatively cheap, but might just tell you the state of your body, and then if not work from there.
You may have another endocrine problem going on, as well as the hashimotos.
Hope this is of some help, wishing you well

I am sure there are more -- just can't think of them!
