Fever that lasts for 2 months

My boyfriend has been suffering with fevers and body aches for the past two months. About 2 years ago he was hospitalized. He has multiple organ failure, and they never found out what caused him to be so ill. He was in the hospital for over a month, and every night he would get fevers. This contined well after we was released. We have seen just about every specialist there is, and have had 100's of tests ran, with no answers. His fevers usually his fever would usally last a week or so, then disappear for a few months. This time his fever will go away. We have been to the ER twice in the past two months, and no answers(all tests were normal). Please, if anyone has some suggestions on where we should go next we would really appreicate it. We dont know what to do anymore.

When you say different kinds of cancer, am I to assume Leukemias were ruled out? The reason I ask if he has traveled outside his country, sometimes foreign parasites are not readily found. His age is important because autoimmune disorders start in a persons twenties normally. Bone marrow diseases are also possibilities for abnormally high wbc. Some also possibilities are Polycythemia.  A bone marrow biopsy would confirm this.  Also certain medications can promote an increase in wbc such as steroids. Rheumatoid arthritis too can increase the wbc. But I suspect the Lupus tests would also rule out RA. Also allergies can cause the immune system to put out more wbc than normal. HIs immune system problems is what causes the organ failures. Perhaps seeing a specialist like an immunologist would be something to look into. Because there a problem with his immune system he needs to stay healthy as possible and avoid sick people as well as large crowds or small confined crowds at least until a cause is found. Do take care I hope I have given you some insight. God Bless

He was tested for lupas multiple times, hiv, lyme diesease, different kinds of cancer. He has had a biopsy of his liver, bone marrow (which did show an abnormal amount of granulomas) ,a colonoscopy. He did not have his spleen checked, and he has not traveled out of the country. He is 25. When he was in the hospital his wbc was at 60,000, but they never found any infection.

Fever is the part of the body's defense mechanisms. So having one is not necessarily a bad thing. Something is causing his immune system to respond to some sort of antigen that is perceives as foreign. Fever raises the body's temperature and is used to kill off the foreign invader. He seems to have issues with his immune system in general. What sorts of tests were ruled out? Has he traveled to any foreign countries? Has he had his spleen checked? The main organ of the immune system. Has any autoimmune disorders been ruled out? How old is your boyfriend? Any history of Lyme's disease. There are so many possibilities and without the information posted there is no direction to go.
