HLA-B27 Positive

Hiya,

My dad had Psoriasis, and has recently been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. However after unbearable pain, that moves to different places, primarily knees and lower back, has had a blood test that has confirmed that he is HLA-B27 Positive. As this was not explained at the doctors, and the internet had little information, i'm looking for info about what this means, the complications and also the possibility that this could have been passed down to myself?

Hi!  I am no doctor but the way that my doctor explained the HLA-B27 gene works is it makes you more susceptible to auto immune illnesses.  My doctor told me not to test for that due to insurance reasons.  I wish I could help you more.....best of luck to you both!
