I have been having a lot of problems with my health since July of 2004 (numbness, tingling, slurred speech at times, droopy left eye occasionally, feel like I have to clear my throat all of the time and have had to go to ER for feeling of choking, clumsiness, memory issues, everything seems to happen on my left side too). I had a test to check for acetylcholine binding and it was slightly elevated. My doctor had questioned Myesthenia Gravis, and put me on Mestinon. It didn't help that much and he decided that he thought it could be MS. I have been round and round for almost 4 years now and want an answer! Of course who doesn't? Does anyone with Myesthenia Gravis have any of these symptoms?

Have you been to an opthamologist? The Dr. are good at finding MG if that is what it is. One of the first signs of MG are ptosis. (eyelid drooping). Dr. will usually do a tensilon test. A tensilon test will show immediate improvement in muscle strength. MG is very treatable and the prognosis is good. I have heard of people not being diagnosed for years after having some of the initial symptoms of MG. Go back to the doc. You may have to be very persistant. Go to an ophthamologist if you have to!

I have been to an ophthalmologist and he noticed the ptosis. He said that I needed to continue seeing the neurologist. I have an appt with a new neuro on Feb 4th and hopefully I can get some answers then. I have been told that MS is a possibility by 4 different doctors. I have not had a tensilon test or a spinal tap yet, maybe the new neuro will help me out there. Do you have MG? I have some symptoms that don't seem to fit MG, but they fit MS very well. I have a grandmother and aunt with MS and we have alot of the same symptoms. Thanks so much for replying! I take any input I can get.

No I don't have MG. I am a nursing student and have studied MG. My mother had a dog with MG. It had a terrible time swallowing. She boarded him one weekend and his meds weren't given on time and he passed away. It is very important with MG patient that meds are taken at the right time. I hope you find out soon what is wrong so you can start feeling better.

Thanks so much for the input. I did not know that dog's could have MG, that's interesting. I hope I find out soon too! I have been dealing with this since September of 2004. I am just tired of doctors and doctor bills. This whole situation has made me open my eyes about speaking up to your doctor and pushing for certain things that they may not have thought of without sounding like a hypochondriac. Take care and good luck with the nursing school. My mom was a nurse for many years as well as the rest of my family. Thanks again!
