Husband never diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

My husband died July 18 from PSC. His primary care physician explained away his elevated liver functions as "normal for him." Even though he displayed other symptoms, he didn't make the connection. Does this happen often?

First of all I am very sorry for your loss.  How do you know he died from the PSC?  I was diagnosed January 19, 2009 and believe that I have had it much longer due to my gall bladder being removed about 10 years ago.  I'm currently not sick and it really doesn't help to not know when something is going to happen.  I hate that I could be sick in 2 years to 20 years maybe.  Was there a definite give away that PSC is what was the cause of death?  Was a liver transplant never an option for your husband or was it too late?  That is what I'm counting on once the dreaded day gets here.

Thank you for any information you would like to share
