Invisible Disease began in childhood

Any suggestions as to what blood work might unveil viral disease? A bit of history for fiance now 56. As child diagnosed with anemia, scoliosis, mono twice, always tired learning disabilities.(Family history parent having bipolor and heart disease.) Treated for Hep C with interferon Riba in 2000 and has gone downhill since. Symptoms started with chronic fatigue and inability to work and function. To date his (undiagnosed herpes) breakout in same place on back has traveled to his tongue, no lithium level coupled with depression prompted bipolar treatments for over a year which was a misdiagnosis, brain MRI shows damage, pnuemonia (pneumonia) symptoms for past 3 months show right lung impairment of some type on outside of lung (doctor says it's nothing), Recent CT for chest and brain (doctor says OK), he gained 30 lbs in 2 weeks on doctors scale and saying it couldn't be but it's the doctors scale, using diuretics and having problems with urinating now (antibiotics for possible prostate NOT), severe cold sweats no fever all day now, bad taste in mouth, muscle twitches in deep sleep started. Blood work shows vitamin D deficiency and he drinks gallon milk a day. Usaual slightly elevated WBC and glucose that they say it's nothing. He feels like his hearts just going to stop working and breathing sounds like Congestive Heart Disease that my father had.
