Lesions

I wasn't sure what to put under Topic but here's my question.

Could someone tell me what a lesion starts out looking like?  I have two places on my body.  One on my leg and one on my arm and they looked like big pimples at first with a red bump around them but they are not pimples and they won't go away.  I may have been bitten by something but I'm just not sure.  Everyday I wake up and think what's next so maybe I am being silly.  But can someone describe what they look like please?  Thanks

You probably should see a dermatologist - I had what sounds like the same thing on my hand, leg and chest, and they didn't go away or change until they started itching.  I went to my dermatologist - he did a biopsy on one and it came back lichen planus.  It's an auto-immune disease,  Not much in the line of treatment, but mine eventually went into remission.  You can have it orally as well, and that's not fun - I go through periods of that quite often.  Dr. gives me a "magic mouthrinse  (dexamethasone and nystatin) for that.
In answer to your question, a lesion is just any abnormal skin tissue formation.

Thanks for the explanation.  Actually both of them went away after I took a round of anti-biotics for a sore throat last week.  I don't know if they had to do with my A.I. or not.  The oral ones you described don't sound  like much.  At least you can get a good mouth rinse for them.  Thanks again for your answer.  I appreciate you.

Do they sometimes come up in different places??  Sounds like these could be hives which are associated with autoimmune disease.  Hives are very itchy.  Take antihistamine to alleviate itch.

I think you are right that they are hives.  I have a steroid cream now and it makes them go away after a while.
