Liver Help!

I have been fighting fatigue and pain for a couple of years i have had many test and it was found my liver enzymes test were high, to keep this short many tests followed my numbers flucuate from 160-707 up and down month to month my last test was 707 I have been off any meds for months now doctor can't explain it. All other blood test normal get to go for liver biopsy tomorrow specialist dosen't want to wait any longer.
He seem to think it might be autoimmune hepititis
Does enzymes flucuate month to month with this disease?
is it possible to have this and all other blood test normal except enzymes?

I'm so sorry to hear it, Dave. You know, though, you should feel so much better with the Prednisone and Imuran. My mother's kidneys started shutting down about a year ago due to what the doctors think is an allergy to ibuprofen. She was on the verge of needing a kidney transplant. The doctors put her on Prednisone, though, and now her kidney function is almost 100% again! It's all about treatment. Just thank God that we've got that! Best of luck you. I am sure you have a long life ahead of you.

Im back from the liver biopsy now just gotta wait for result doc thinks it could be autoimmune hepatitis but atypical because my SMA andANA muscle tests do not show significant increased levels, so I am hoping for the best!

Are you taking any herbal supplements of any kind? I read that Herbalife Formula 1 Shake Mix as well as other Herbalife products and other supplements can cause elevated liver enzymes. It is definitely something to think about.

My liver enzymes were recently checked by my endocrinologist and found to be high, too. I, too, have been fighting fatigue for the past couple of years. I've also had strange neurological issues. The liver enzymes being elevated is new for me, though. My numbers aren't as high as yours--mine are 165 (ALT) and 109 (AST).

Your doctor needs to rule out things like HIV and hepatitis. In addition to all those tests, you might also ask about getting tested for Lupus, too. Other things that could be causing your liver enzymes to go wacky are medications that you're taking, foods you're eating, or alcohol you're consuming. Even certain herbs and vitamins can affect your liver function. And of course WAY down the list is liver cancer--common throughout the world, but not as common in the U.S. (though rates are rising).

Honestly, I've never heard of such dramatic swings in liver function, though.
