Monthly Migranes(migraines)

I really don´t know what Optic neuritis is, but my question has nothing to do with the rest of the Topic options, so since it is Optic, I just placed it here. My issue is the next. I know my family is sensitive to light. My grandfather even got his wedding pic with sunglasses on. I used to live in Mexico for 28 years, though it is Mexico, I lived in a place where it rains 7 months out of the year. Even when it is sunny, most of the times there are clouds in the sky, so it´s not as sunny. When it´s clear I use sunglasses, but my light sensitivity is worse with white light, like a bright cloudy day, I really can´t see. I have been able to see directly to the sun, and see the light rings around it, no problem. But the light of a cloudy day, geese I am blind. Anyways, I had always been healthy. Eventual cold, no big deal. The problem started when I moved to California. Hardly rains, 95% of the time there are no clouds in the sky, just Bright Sunny Days. I can´t be outside for more than 5 hours without coming back home and getting a horrible unbearable headache. I notice they are worse some days before I get my period. And the headache is worse if I lay down, rather than if I am standing up. I feel like more pressure in my forehead if I lay down than if I am standing. Back in Mexico I had like 3 or 4 headaches in my whole life, caused by stress at work, but here right now I am not stressed by anything, and they are so bad I can barely think straight. I can handle pain, Funny I laugh with pain instead of crying. Both times I fractured my ancles people didn´t even believe me cause of this. But this headaches are so bad that not even pills work. The only thing that has worked so far, is going to bed covering my face and limiting the light in the room to none. This makes me sleep over 12 hours to feel better.
The pain is mainly on my forehead  from where my eye starts on the side to the other side. Sometimes it´s to the point of wanting me to vomit. I get annoyed easily with white bright lights. Usually my PC, laptop and TV are to the lowest brightness possible for the same reason. I have astigmatism in one of my eyes. I know I have a sensitive sight, sometimes I see things others can´t see.
My question is: Could my head aches come from a different sea level, due diff atmospheric pressure? (ears always pop up like on airplanes when coming into town.
Could it be because it is brighter here than back home? (they just started by the time I got to California)
When the senses in your body are very sensitive to everything that is going on around you, could this cause the eyes (being a sense) to be more sensitive to even brighter light?
I have a history in family about this. All my relatives have to use sun glasses, even our eyelashes are longer than the usual cause they fracture the light coming into our eyes.

Thank you to anyone that is able to answer this.
I discarded the menstruation migranes (migraines) because even if I have it before my period, I have had my period for 15 years by now, and only since I moved of home I started having them.
I don´t have a history of migranes (migraines). I worked at an airline for almost 6 years solving problems, my few bad headaches were always followed by a very big problem to solve which would take more than a day, so that´s mainly my history in headaches.
I do have sinus problems, but they never caused me something such as this, other than letting me know when it was going to rain or be colder. It all changed when I moved to CA.  Help
