Mrs.
I am the caregiver for my 94 year old mother who has just contracted shingles. I have myasthenia gravis. What are the dangers of exposure to me and what precautions do I need to take while taking care of her?

Hi Kathy.
Welcome to the forum.

It depends. If you had the chickenpox in the past, apparently, you don't have to worry about contacting shingles.
A susceptible person may contract chickenpox, but not shingles directly
from another person.

I would be concerned about the amount of stress, from being the caregiver,
combined with the symptoms of your own condition -myasthenia gravis- and the effects of any immuno-suppressive drugs (should you be taking these for controlling MG).

Best thing to do is to make sure you're taking really good care of yourself.
Wishing you and your mother well.
Niko
