My 5 year old daughter has HSP

I have taken her to the ER 3 times over the past 2 weeks to Stanford Hospital. You can tell they hadn't seen a case like this in years. They didn't know what to do w/her. They didn't let her stay over night at all. I had to take her home and take care of her myself. They first had me give her Naproxen, then a Rheumotologist came to see her after taking her in for the third time. Then she switched her to Prednisolone and Raditindine. The steroid for the swelling of the bone joints and the Raditindine to protect the stomach from the Prednisolone. She's only been on Prednisolone for this will be her third week and I'm starting to ween her off of it already slowly by one milligram. She's already complaining of stomach aches and dryness in her sinuses. Is this going to get worse once she is completely off and is it going to get worse as I slowly ween her off of this medication? I'm worried. Any advice will be great. Thank you!..

I am so very sorry that your baby girl is going through something like this.  I am unsure of what HSP is?  I do know from personal experience that Prednisone is a rough pill to take and to come off of.  I will pray for her and you both...

I don't know what HSP is either. It would really be helpful in general when posters write out the full name for whatever it is, and after that use the abbreviation. This is not just with HSP that I don't know what it is but it happens a lot that I don't know what something stands for. Thanks, Kat

My son also has Hsp and yes sometimes it does get worse after the steroids, my son has had numerous flare ups and his Pediatrician finally admitted him into the hospital to get it under control,it is a very hard and stressful Disorder to deal with mainly because so many including Doctors do not know what it is. Steroids are very tough on your body and it will take some time for it to be completely out of her system,I am not sure what her tummy aches are from all I can tell you is from my sons experiences is that Hsp also affects their bowels and digestion,so they have my son taking Myralax which is a stool softener to help with the belly pain and it has been a miracle worker.I hope your little one feels better soon
