Dear Dr. Niko
Thank you very much for your detailed explanation, I also forgot to add that I did the ESR test that came back as <2. I will now do the T3 test along with ANA, FT4 and ESR tests and will get back to you shortly.
Thank you once again for your time and help.
John,
Your positive ANA test with the homogenous pattern may suggest an autoimmune disease like SLE or some type of connective tissue disease, but further specific testing is required to assist in making a final diagnosis.
Your Free T4 is excessively high, well beyond the lab range which may be indicative of an issue to convert to T4 to T3.
I find that TSH is not useful as a thyroid test and I would suggest, you get
Free T3 and Reverse T3 levels checked as well.
When low thyroid function, remains unresolved, over time should there be
significant organ involvement, it could lead to the onset of auto-immune type
of conditions like SLE, so it is important to rule this out!
If you have prolonged biological and/or external stress, this could lead to low adrenal function, which would trigger low thyroid function (secondary hypothroidism) for adrenal recovery purposes. In this case the adrenals must be addressed first before the thyroid.
Best, see a Naturopathic or Functional Medicine Doctor for this and the proper thyroid testing, as a "short cut".
Conventional medicine does not consider this an established medical diagnosis, until it becomes an adrenal crisis.
The Free T3 and Reverse T3 may not have an insurance code,
so they might be out of pocket for you, but well worth it, to my opinion!
I hope this helps, however, please note that my comments are not intended as a substitute for medical advice.
Best wishes.
Niko
