POSTED A WHILE AGO, NOW MORE SYMPTOMS, HELP.

by kenneltech, Oct 24, 2009 11:59PM
Hello, I posted on here quite a while ago, and have been running to doctors ever since with no results and I'm becoming sicker and sicker.  About 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on synthroid (they keep adjusting it and watching levels), then I went through menopause.  I gained 70 lbs. really  fast (I'VE DONE THIS THREE TIMES IN MY LIFE AND THEY HAVE NEVER KNOWN WHAT CAUSES IT), but this time, the weight isn't coming off like it did before.  Since then, I have had multiple body system disorders, it's continuous!  I had to have my gallbladder out, then I developed an esophogeal stricture, then my esophogus closed up and they had to go in and stretch it open, now I take medication for stomach paranthesis.  Was recently told I have pre-diabetes, high blood pressure, a "stiff" heart, and a hiatal hernia.  This all happened within a few months time!!

I have depression, insomnia, GERD so bad that they can't control it, restless leg SO BAD THAT I TAKE THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT OF REQUIP I USED TO, it's 24 hours a day, brain fog, blurred vision, I ITCH EVERYWHERE, and it's driving me mad!  Now, I have heart palpitations and rapid heart rate (occassionally, and they don't know why), and I have skin tags all over and adult onset acne on my body, along with serious vericose veins, and all this just started.  It's like my entire body is falling apart in a matter of 2 years!!!  I also get thrush constantly under my breasts, and even with medication, it's not controlled.

Now, they have done cortisol tests, which were not high, thyroid panels, (of course they sometimes were low until they adjusted my meds), NUMEROUS heart tests, stress test, halter monitor, echocardiogram, etc. Blood sugar which said I was pre-diabetic (take metformin), AND NOTHING ELSE!  They just tell me they don't know what's wrong!

I am so exhausted I can barely function, and now I have edema, and this itching is driving me mad!  I have been to 5 endocrinologists, 3 cardiologists, and my family doctor, and I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TURN ANYMORE.  I truly feel like I'm dying, do any of these symptoms put together sound like some autoimmune disorder?  That's what people have told me, that multiple system problems are usually an autoimmune disorder.  What should I ask at a NEW doctors visit?  Please help.

you may wanna see a rheumatologist.  It could be auto immune.  Did anything in your life change suddenly before all of this happened?  Any accidents?  Sometimes high stress situations or major physical or emotional changes can trigger auto immune responses from what I have read.  You also may want to go back for many years and write down everything that you can think of even if you think it is irrelevant.  Chances are it is linked in some way.  I am sorry that you are going through this and I hope that you find a doctor that can help you.

Reading your post have you been tested for thyroid anti-bodies, ie for hashimotos, were the thyroid can swing from hyper to hypo, and cause all sorts off different symptoms.
I would have a FT3, FT4, TSH, AND THYROID ANTI BODIES, tested,
There sounds to be multiple endocrine systems affected, ie diabetes, and thyroid,
I would personally be looking at them first and see if youve got the anti-bodies,against the thyroid.
I  think thats were i would be starting first, as a lot off your symptoms could be caused by your endocrine system.
Good luck, keep me posted.
Nicola.

Yes, something extremely traumatic happened to me right before all this, I was brutally raped and went into shock and left everything I owned, including a business, and lived in my car for 3 months until my friends found me.  I was completely out of it as this sort of thing happened to me many times as a child and I swore it would NEVER happen to me again when I was an adult.  Then, my dog got eaten my a large dog at a park. that put me in the funny farm for a week, in a complete catatonic state.  Then, all this happened.  Now, I'm trying to go to college again, and don't know why I'm bothering, because, the way I feel, I'm not gonna be able to hold a job anyway, that's why I'm so desparate!   Thank you for the advice, I never thought of a rheumatologist!!  I WILL make an appointment.

Thanks for your comments, no, they didn't go that far with thyroid tests, but now that I know what to ask for, I will demand they give me those tests!!

Everyone's posts are invaluable to me.   Thanks.

I am so sorry that you went through that.  That would def cause a lot of stress in your life and again I am so very sorry.  I also have a lot of strange symptoms and they have checked me from head to toe and nothing is coming back.  I am now seeing a rheumatologist.  I hope you get some answers.  Take care and God Bless.

Yeah, it did.  I'm in EMDR treatment for PTSD now.  It's helping.  I am going to take the advice on here, though, and see an Rheumatologist.  Everytime I have gone to an Endocrinologist, they only do thyroid and diabetes, I've been to 5 of them, and they just do the same tests over and over.  Cortisol, sugar, and thyroid.  It's getting really old, and I was about to give up!!

Thanks for your info.

Our hearts go out to you and our prayers.  Many of us pray that the Lord Jesus heal all the emotional scars in your life.

I thought of something as I was reading your post.  Yeast overload.  Nyastatin and a anti yeast diet might be helpful to you.  Yeast overload can cause all kinds of symptoms.  Just a thought.

Praying for God's direction in your life.
The Lord bless and keep,
Kara

Rheumatologists will check you for auto immune things.  It is a start anyway.  Do not get discouraged if they do not find anything right away though.  Sometimes these things are tricky(actually most of the time).  We know our bodies best and know when thinga are just not right.
