Sjogren's symptoms?

For the past few months I have been experiencing a dry tongue which has progressed into dry mouth and very dry nasal passages that become swollen. I drink plenty of water but this does nothing for the dryness that I feel and I am uncomfortable most of the day. My IgE has been tested and it is very high (more than double the normal range) so allergy was suspected. Nothing seems to trigger the dry mouth, and it has changed from coming on during the day to being there when I wake up and staying for the entire day. I have taken antihistamines for the past five months (Claritin, switched to Zytec) with absolutely no relief. All the antihistamines did was make my dry mouth worse than it already is, so I stopped them about 10 days ago. At first it seemed like the answer to the problem, I had about four days straight of feeling perfectly fine, but now the dryness is back without any antihistamines. My question is: are these indicative of Sjogren's symptoms and can Sjogren's increase your IgE levels?

Hi, yes I have just been diagnosed with Sjogren's after a very long 2 year struggle and it most definately affects your mouth, mine is pure agony today. And your IgE levels can be affected by Sjogren's. What other symptoms do you have. Sjogren's typically starts off with mild dry eyes and mouth but then moves onto many other symptoms, such as very dry skin, dry cough, painful and swollen muslcles and joints and skinn rashes. Do you have any of these? Also, you should get your doc to run all the anti-body tests there on you to check your blood. Also, beware, you can have Sjogren's without anti-bodies too that's why it took so long to diagnose me! But there are other tests for example on the eyes they do that can diagnose it also. If your doc thinks you may have Sjogren's he needs to refer you to a Rheumatologist. Also, if you do have Sjogren's, anti-histamines do really aggravate it so stay away from them.
