Vit B-12

If pernicious anemia is caused by  non absorption in the bowel of vitamin b-12 how can vitamin b-12 tablets be effective ? I have just finished four weeks of weekly injections and have now been out on oral vitamins.

Hello, if you are talking about sub lingual (under the tongue) B12, it is absorbed in my mouth.

I think the theory is that if you bombard the GI with so much more to choose from so to speak the hope is it will absorb it. If you are taking sublingual then it is absorbed right into the bloodstream.

Not taking sub lingual ! Just 1000mcg per day.....

Just talked with the pharmacist and she recommends the sublingual so have bought that . Thanks everyone.....
