Weird symptoms

Dear Everybody,

I am 25 years male and currently studying in France.

Here is the summary of my symptoms:

July/August 2013- Episcleritis of an eye (I forgot which eye it was)
22nd August 2014- Shingles (on the right side of the body near spinal cord)
5th September 2014- I got the crack on upper right lip. (may be it was Angular Cheilitis !)
________________________________________

From 24th September to 30th September 2014- I had fatigue, pain over eyebrows, eye pain, shoulder and neck pain sometimes, sometimes there was tingling over my scalp and tingling at the end of right leg, fever was for only one or two times

From 7th October 2014 - feeling fatigue. Sometimes I have muscular spasms and pain, Right leg and right hand has less power. Right hand and right leg is getting colder compared to left leg and left hand. There are actually colder in reality.
Burning sensation and tingling at the end of right leg after walking and while lying down, not good vision (right eye has near sightedness), eye floaters

25th october to 1 nov: twitching of right eye

2 nov till 5th nov: pain in right leg, burning sensation on the sole of right foot and toes also when I sit or stand up. After walking right leg has burning sole. and eye floaters  have been increased too

I am sensitive to cold sometimes.
5th Nov: I had burning sensation in left leg too while sitting.
6th Nov morning: MRI scan of brain for multiple sclerosis. After scan I took first dose of vitamin D. there are two more doses to be taken after 15 days.
6th Nov night: burning sensation in right leg while sleeping (approx 1.5 hours)
9th Nov morning: Burning sensation in soles of both feet, afternoon both foot got heated up after walking; general weakness on legs.. feeling heated soles.
10th Nov. Felt tingling/ electric shock in right hand for 2-3 seconds but I was holding straps of bag and it went off when I removed the hand from straps.
11 th Nov: for 10-15 minutes there was pain in fingers of right hand. they became stiff for some time. there was slight pain in wrist and hand
12 th Nov: Pain in right foot. slight pain in right thigh and right foot sole got heated after walking.
I received results of Brain MRI for multiple sclerosis conducted on 6th Nov - they are normal.
From 14th Nov – 19th Nov I had swallowing problems, I was feeling like something stuck in throat.
20th Nov- took vitamin D second dose in the morning. I suddenly realized that left foot perceived cold but it is not cold to touch.

Sometimes I am sensitive to cold and all blood test were normal. vitamin D is less. Thyroid is normal too. Eye specialist has prescribed me glasses for nearsightedness. Neurologist has no answer on my problem. He has ordered MRI. On 24th Nov I have MRI of spinal cord.

weird sensation (burning, slight tingling) started in right foot started around 45 days ago. From yesterday, 20th Nov, I have left foot which perceives cold but it is not cold. I had shingles (3 months ago)+ vitamin D deficiency. what it could be MS, any complications of zoster virus after shingles or something else?
Thank you!

MS diagnosis is extremely complicated and it takes years before it can be diagnosed.
FYI, you may check the 2010 Revised McDonald Diagnostic Criteria for MS,
which is a mainly a diagnosis of exclusion of other likely diagnoses.

If your B12 says cyanocobalamin, it's not the methylated form, needed for neurological function. It must be methylocobalamin. Same with folate,
it must be the tetrahydrofolate, which is the methyl type.

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.

Take care et Au Revoir!

thank you very much for reply. My multivitamin capsule provides 40% of B12 daily requirement. I will definitely talk to doctor about it.

thank you very much for previous reply. I have one question. Could you please answer me? I kindly request you.

How early somebody can get diagnosed with MS after symptoms onset? MRIs can detect MS after one month of symptoms?

thank you! I will be grateful to you!

best regards

Episcleritis could have been an early symptom of your imbalance(s) and deficiencies, which manifested as shingles later on.

Multi-vitamins sometimes contain substances which may be contra-indicated!
Watch out for anything that may be synthetic, even if disguised as natural.
Also watch out for unmethylated forms of folate and B12. Under certain conditions the unmethylated forms take up the receptors, thus blocking the proper forms from uptake.

Gtg!

Dear Sir,

Thank you very much for reply. I will ask my neurologist about B12 tests. I have appointment with him next week.

I want to inform you that I had episceleritis in July 2013 and shingles attack was in August 2014. In shingles, eye was not involved. Shingles rash was on back near spinal cord. (right side of body till spinal cord). I am taking multi vitamin capsule everyday. But i will ask doctor about K2 also.

Thank you !

Have a nice evening ahead :)

Hey kedarsaw,
Welcome to the forum.

I wish I could meet people under better circumstances, but, we are here
to help one another, so that at least is positive.

Shingles-Herpes zoster ophthalmicus  (eye involvement) Hmm.
Reactivation of the virus due to the inability of your compromised immune system to suppress it -due to vitamin D deficiency?
with various neurological symptoms, including ongoing ophthalmological issues. Possibly.

Because your immune system has been compromised,  complication risks, such as postherpetic neuralgia (symptoms of which you may be experiencing presently), is very likely and this is what I suspect the most.

Immune system enhancement, at this point is critical, in order to control
this infection, if it is this indeed, because once the virus has been allowed to replicate again over the course of many weeks, antiviral drugs have very little effectiveness.

My honest opinion is to see a knowledgeable doctor who specializes in Functional Medicine or a Naturopathic Doctor to help you with this.

France, has many good Holistic minded health practitioners and I hope you will be able to find one (and who you can afford-I'm not sure about the
health system and insurance there, how it works.)

A vitamin D deficiency may cause B12 deficiency.
Make sure your neurological B12 (methylocobalamin) levels are fine, but this needs a seperate homocysteine test, which should be done several
times (since homocysteine can fluctuate).
Standard serum tests will not indicate a methylocobalamin deficiency
and doctors may determine your B12 levels are OK, b'cause serum cobalamin levels are OK. Not the same!

If it sounds complicated to do, then consider a methylocobalmin trial challenge-sublingual for better delivery.
Having adequate gastric acid will help absorb it better, as gastric acid is needed for intrinsic factor, vital for B12 absorption from oral intake/food.

To self-test gastric acid levels, you may do a Betaine HCL challenge
or a baking soda burp test, which you can look them up online.

I hope this helps and you may contact me if you need more details,
by posting again or direct pm,
however, please note that my comments and suggestions are not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Oh, I almost forgot. I would also suggest you take K2 along with D3, specially if you're mega-dosing, to ensure calcium gets deposited at the right places like bones, joints, teeth, instead of soft tissues, thus avoiding vit. D toxicity.

Best wishes.
Niko
