What is the Dr. thinking?

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum.  I have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism by by GP.  I am on 50 MCG of synthroid.  TSH has been normal, but I still have pronounced fatigue at times.  Periods of nausea and dizzines, although not bad as before or as often, and muscle weakness in arms and legs-worse sometimes than others, but always somewhat tired.

I have dry mouth and sometimes troube swallowing.  Deveioped tendonitis in hip little over year ago.  Pain not so bad now, but still stiff and sore.  Have pain in legs on occasion.  From hip to ankle.  Shins ache at night.  It is not so bad-I have been able to keep it undercontrol most times with ibuprophen or ultram.

I had Mono little over 2 years ago and that is when symtoms began.  Have since had strep for first time in my life.

Saw a rhuemy last Thurs.  I was not impressed.  He dosen't like to explain or answer questions with any more info. than yes or no.  I am going to go somewhere else after I get blood work back.

He did pressure test and said I had tendonitis, bursitis, some kind of band thing down thighs and something in lower legs.  He did say my muscles and tendons were being effected.  Would not elaborate on what it may be, but did say it was not fibro.

I know he orderd muscle enzyme test.  Did both blood and urine.

Do any of you think you know what he may be looking for?  I would appreciate any ideas.
I am so tired of Dr.s and looking for specialist on my insurance.  It looks like I may have to go to endocrinologist.  Do you think an endocrinologist could be helpful?

Sorry this is so long.  I just try to think of everything that is going on-I can't remember half of it. (another symptom)

I understand your frustration.  It has been a long road for me to find a good Rheumatologist that will listen to me and work with me.  I went through four, that is I landed on the fourth and knew she was the doc that would work with me because the first time I saw her we sat down and she said, "Let's figure out what's going on with you".  Don't give up until you find one you feel comfortable with.

I don't know and I am only guessing but your Rheumy may be looking for something autoimmune.  Of course you have probably already guessed that since you came to this forum.  Did he/she do any bloodwrok?  Did they check your ANA?  It took me going to several doctors before they bothered checking my ANA.  If that is positive then there are other tests they can do to help find out which autoimmune disease it could be.  There are over 100 of them.  Do you have inflamation in your joints?  Do you get fever or chills?  Any rashes?  Just wondering.

God Bless,
Joni
