concerned for teen daughter after CBC results

my 16 year old has dysautonomia. she has seen a rhuematologist in the past for joint pain and waking up from sleep with fingers drawn up like a claw. she has depression/anxiety/mood swings and fatigue. she has a history of migraines, but has not had one in a while.

Yesterday, she started shaking uncontrollably and was short of breath. she thought it was an anxiety attack (she never had one before) until we discovered she had a fever of almost 103. the dr put her on antivirals and advil/tylenol, but she continues to feel worse, so I took her to the ER today. they ran blood and said that all was normal, except her WBC was low. when I looked at the lab resport, I saw that her white count was low, her lymphocytes were low and her monocytes were high. they ran a test for mono, which came back negative...they just said that she had a virus.

Should I be concerned about the low white counts?  My mom is suspected of having SLE (some tests are positive and others are negative) and I also have positive ANA. Could my daughter have SLE or MS?  Or should I just wait until she is feeling better to repeat the blood tests?

Thank you!

Hi PlateletGal

Thanks for your response.

She was tested a few times for lyme disease, anemia, mono....everything always comes back "normal"  she saw an RA doctor, who only said she had a vitamin D deficiancy.

Could low vitamin D cause all those other things?

thanks!

Because your daughter has had joint pain in the past.... I would consider investigating what the real cause of your daughter's illness is.

Also, I thought I would mention that people who have fingers like claws can have lyme disease or rheumatoid arthritis.

I hope you will stick around. MedHelp also has an autoimmune tracker that you can download and track your daughter's symptoms.

Best,
