Hi, i only placed this question in this category because my family historically suffers autoimmune disease. I don't really know what the problem is. I have serious pain not in my joints and i am not sure it is in my muslces either. it seems to be tendons. from the elbow to the wrist and from the thigh to the knee and knee to ankles. it have had two 'attacks' like this in the last month. the first was preceeded by shortness of breath and extended into my feet and this time the attack was preceeded by gastritis of some description. my nailbeds are also sore as well as my teeth. i took some supplements because it thought it might be a deficiency but nothing. I do smoke and have had very bad reactiosn during premenstrual times (severe migraines). i have a gluten intolerance and my father suffered severe gout. My cousin has Addisons and my mother Diabetes. I have no idea if this information is useful. but here it is anyway. I also lost my father in March which may mean that the problem is to do with grief? thanks for your help in advance.

Hi there,
Thanks for the input, yes i was diagnosed with gluten intolerance which i have noticed is what celiac is. I have had stressful situation after stressful situation in the last year becuase of my father's kidney disease i was under a lot of stress and found that chronic joint pain and weight loss happened at the same time. at the time i wrote this question the symptoms were really bad and then tended to wear off. A few hours later i started getting an itchy rash all over, especially on my scalp. I do know that Addisons, celiac, lupus and a few other disorders have the same genetic basis which is why they have similar symptoms. I will keep a watch though and see what happens for now.

Thank you so much for your response and help,
Shalom.

Welcome to MedHelp.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your father.

There are a number of things that could cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

Celiac Disease - this is a glutton intollerance which can cause joint pain as well as gastro symptoms. (diarhea)

Lupus - this can cause joint and muscle pain as well as diarhea and fatigue - to name a few.  Most people w/ lupus have joint pain and a facial rash.

Lymes Disease - too many to be brief about

Vit D deficiency - bone pain and fatigue

fibromyalgia - fatigue and muscle pain.  Can be interpreted as being joint pain.

Of corse depression can do all sorts of crazy things to our bodies.  But it can also trigger other illnesses.  For example, lupus and fibromyalgia have been know to follow a severe event or illness in a person's life.

There is a test for celiac...I would start there and work down.

God bless
