secondary amyloid

I have been dx with secondary amyloidosis but they cannot find anything for it to be secondary to
the rhematologist has ruled out any rhematologic cause and the oncologist has ruled our an occult malignancy. I am returning to Boston's amylid clinic in august for the third time and am afraid they still won't have any answers and more importanly and treatment plan. The amyloid has been biopsied out of mym kidneys(I am now in ESRD on diaylisis) biopsied out of my colon and esphogas and I have severe neruopathies prvoen with EMG. What could this be secondary to?

My father had amyloidosis. I've been sick for 1 1/2yrs. and the docs are trying to see if I have amyloid. They said it's like looking for a needle out of a hay stack. I know the doctors are saying secondary, but wondering if it could be genetic. There's a blood test that I'm taking called TTR/Amyloidosis that can detect a gene if you have it. Athena labs in I think, Maryland does this test. Have you had a biopsie of the bellie fat?
