seere pain i left hand/ Thumb

I ave been having severe pain in my left hand palm and thumb. The lower left portion of the palm of he hand is swollen. I cant touch my left thumb to my left ring finger with out severe pain. Feels like a pulling pain. Veins in the palm of and towards the bottom of palm wrist area on left side of palm are destined. Pain seems to be eleviated some when I wear a thumb immobilizer. Can anyone help? Recommended I see a hand specialist? Cant do it because no one believes I am i enough pain for it. Please help. Arthritis compression gloves have been recommended. CP thought it was tendonitis. Ruled out when pain got worse.
