uveitis

Is it safe for a pregnant woman to take pred forte(cortecosteroid)? I am 4 months pregnant now.

Is there any permanent cure for uveitis?

Hi!
Prednisolone is Food and Drug Administration’s category C drug. This means that some animal studies have shown it to cause harm to fetus but there is no human studies to prove it. Also animal studies have given conflicting results. So, prednisolone is used in pregnancy only if no other treatment is possible. So, while you can take prednisolone under medical supervision, you will need regular fetal monitoring to see if the baby is well.
If uveitis is due to an autoimmune disorder then there may be no cure.
Take care!
