Please check out my post 18 with an extremly fast heart rate. my name is also Emily.
I don't think that there is enough information here to make a comment. Various things can stimulate tachycardia, including the comment on ingestion of common chemicals as a possible source of the problem. Environmental possibilities should also be considered, such as mold exposure in the home, chronic infections, etc.
Hi Emmily,
Were you able to get a copy of the report from your 24 hour holter monitor? If so, what does it say?
I have been having heart racing (tachycardia) for over a year. Sometime (most days even), my heart will just race at 150 BPM or more for hours on end. I think that this has been going on for longer, but it's now taken to happening for extended periods of time. If I'm ever at a doctors office or the emergency, it's always so fast that the nurses / doctors consistently insist on putting me on a monitor. I've even been rushed into emerg w/ oxygen, etc! I've had EKG after EKG that has never shown a problem. My last cardiologist consultation I did very poorly on the stress test, but was sent home and told not to worry, I know how it can be frustrating. They still haven't found out what's happening with me, but I suspect from recent, unrelated testing, that it's complicated, so I'm trying to be patient.
What did the doctor say about your monitor? Was there any advice from your consultation? Have you been diagnosed with any conditions? A great thing to remember is to try not to worry too much about what's happening. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be trying to find the cause, on the contrary.
Just because your heart is racing, doesn't mean that it's life threatening. There are more than a few benign conditions that can cause this to happen. However, it is important to keep an eye on what's happening. If you are able to remember what the doctor said, or get a copy of your report, that could be helpful in identifying what might be causing your issue.
I think it might be a good sign that your mother isn't too worried.Did she go with you to the appointment?
Sorry I wasn't more help. :)
