Iron deficency

Iron deficency

I have just been diagnosised with iron deficency and hear it is involved with restless leg syndrome which I have and fibromyalgia. What is the treatment once identified? Thanks. How significant is this with fibromyalgia? Thanks.

Iron deficiency can lead to anemia and other problems, such as weakness, fatigue, pallor, inflammation, headaches, concentration and cognitive problems, sleep problems, sores, etc.  It can be associated with nutritional deficiencies, blood problems, cancer, infections or other conditions.

Treatments include diet, iron supplements, vitamin A, and in severe cases blood transfusion.

FMS patients often have dietary deficiencies, and iron deficiency is one of these that is found in CFS and FMS patients.  Usually this calls for iron supplements.
