Cycle Length after Miscarriage

I found out I  had a missed miscarriage on 03/09/2010 and had a D&C done on 03/11/2010. I started AF again on 04/11/2010. I usually have a 25 day cycle from the start of AF to the next. My husband and I are trying to conceive again and I am using an Ovulation Detector at home. I have been getting nothing but negative results. When we got preg before it showed up only 2 days out of the week that I was supposed to be testing. I have used 4 tests thus far and get negative each time. Is it possible that my cycle will no longer be 25 days? I have no clue. Someone help me =)

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, I had a missed miscarriage and on Nov 30th I had a D&C, then Dec 30th I got AF.  My cycle's are also usually around the 24-25 days, but I had a long cycle that time I ovulated late (I think because of stress and worry about all the what if's etc).  I had a 29-30 day cycle that month, and it was also the month we did get pregnant.

I also heard that for some women it can take several cycles until there fully back to there regular cycle.

Good luck!

I thought that I may have missed ovulation too when I wasn't getting a positive around CD14, but when I did get the positive on CD 17, it was also positive all of day 18 aswell, so there's no way I would have missed it even with just one test a day. I'm a bit of a frequent tester because I buy the test strips cheap off ebay!  I think if you were ovulating right now you would have had a positive on yesterday's test, that's just my opinion! Have you been taking your temp or getting any other signs of ovulation? Is your CM the fertile egg-whitey stuff, or could it just be the lead up to ovulation? If I were you I would just keep testing to see if you eventually get a positive. Let me know how you get along, good luck! :)

Thanks for the advice. I am also sorry for your losses. I went in for my first ob appt (12 weeks) with no signs of miscarriage. When they could find a heartbeat i was absolutely devastated. The u/s confirmed that our baby had passed about 2 weeks prior. Its really difficult to feel normal again, isn't it? I think I will definitely keep testing. My hubby and I are "trying to conceive" regularly since we thought  i would be ovulating but the negative tests are really discouraging to me and i probably should give my poor husband a break from all the action lol.

dmarie919- its nice to know that it is normal for my cycle to be off. none of my girlfriends have went though this so no one really has an answer for me.

Mum2cands- Hearing that you did eventually get a positive is really reassuring. I was thinking maybe i could have missed my positive since i am only testing once a day. Any thoughts on this? Not to give tmi but i have had discharge for the past 2 days which has led me to believe maybe i am ovulating right now.

Hi, sorry to hear of your loss.  Same thing happened to me (although I didn't require a d&c)... I normally ovulate spot on day 14, but the month after my miscarriage I ovulated on day 18.  I was testing from day 11 and was about to stop testing on day 16 because I thought I maybe wasn't going to ovulate that month.  I'm glad now that I didn't stop testing!  I am now day 2 of the 2 week wait!  I thought that maybe I ovulated a few days later than normal because my endometrium lining needed more time to build up to sustain a pregnancy, it helped to think of it this way!! Keep testing- I'm sure you will see a positive, just a bit later than normal.  Good luck!

First of all, I am sorry for your loss.  I also had a d&c last February.  Unfortunately, miscarriages can cause cycles to be all over the place for a bit.  I think it's rare for someone to go back into a "regular" cycle like clockwork.  There are a lot of hormonal issues probably still going on, especially if you were a little farther in your pregnancy.  My cycles varied as much as 9 days....your opks might not work until you've had another period.  It might be that you are ovulating but it might be off of what you normally have been, even if your cycles are about the same, you might not ovulate the same day that you did before, and it might vary by month.  I wouldn't be concerned if your cycles vary a bit, but I agree that it is SUPER frustrating....
