general question :)

Hi ladies,  as you all know I had a D&C 6 weeks ago (not 7 as I mistakenly put in cycle buddies yesterday lol).  Now I know that it can take as long as up to 8 weeks for that first AF to appear although on average I think it's by about 6 weeks.  Well it's 6 weeks today for me and still no AF.  The last couple of days I could have sworn she was about to put in an appearance, last night in particular I had really strong low down aching and today it's still there only less so.  I did an hpt on Sat which was negative.  Should I test again tomorrow say, could the low down aching be a pregnancy symptom (you'd never know I've had 4 kids, I've forgotten it all!!!).  My boobs feel slightly fuller but no aching or tenderness there and Sat I had slight nausea but that's now gone and I get that when I'm due AF also.

I'm not due to see the Dr until I reach 8 weeks post op so there is little point in me going before then.  Just wondered what others think and .... well I suppose I just needed to vent also :-/  I just hate this not knowing and having to force myself not to keep taking hpt's which could turn out to be a complete waste of money :(

I'm sorry your going through that.
I would count back to how many days ago it was since you last BD. Normally AF shows up about 14 DPO so you could test anywhere from 10-15 days past the last time you BD. If its still negative after that, then its most likely just the stress of wanting it so bad. I had phantom symptoms for months afterwards, just before AF, and would swear I was pregnant.
Just try to relax and not think about it so much. I know its hard. You will have your bundle of joy before you know it.  :)

Thanks ladies.  I wasn't looking out for ovulation I admit, my normal cycle was 24 days prior to the pregnancy and my pregnancy symptoms had stopped before the D&C, about 2 weeks beforehand so I'd already stopped feeling pregnant before the procedure.  I did an hpt to check there were no hormones left in my system about a week and half a go (if my memory serves me correctly).

I seem to also have an increase in CM, very creamy.

We did bd a few times for about a week (the week before last and a few days before that)but then last week not at all, so if I was ovulating around those times then there is a chance I could have caught.
I've got a few hpt's left so I think I shall do one tomorrow and another on Sat and book in to see the Doc next week either way.

The cramping is back again this evening as bad as last night.

I so wish I'd followed advice and used contraception until I'd had an AF because then I wouldn't be going through this "am I aren't I" scenario.

I had a D&C as well, I got AF a bout 30 days after.  From what I heard it depends on how long your cycles normally are and how long it took to stop bleeding.

Did you look out for ovulation at all?

I bleed for 12-24 hours (well spotted more than anything), then after a full week plus I bleed for a week, then about 2-4 days after the bleeding stopped I ovulated, then I've got 13 day phase before AF.  I also still "felt" pregnant for at least a week after I ovulated, and some of the symptoms stayed with me till after AF was gone.

Were you trying this month at all?  I'd say if you have an apt at 8 weeks, that waiting at least one more week before testing may help save some money on tests.

Helen, I can only imagine your frustration. I never had a D&C but I know the time frame can vary from woman to woman. I've read where some women get af within a few weeks and others a few months. I would just try and hang in there until your appointment if you can.
