7W and now I have a virus

okay ladies. I've been extremely sick all day today with fever, vomiting, and diaherra. The doctor said I must have caught a stomach virus. Of all times!! of course I'm nervous about my baby. My fever has stayed around 100 all day. I'm taking kaopectate, vitamin b6 and unisom, and just enough tylenol to help with fever. I hate taking medication but I have no choice..  I'm trying to drink plenty of water but it's just going straight through me. I'm so scared of having to go to the hospital tonight, I certainly don't trust ER docs with my pregnancy. I just hope the fever stays at bay tonight and I wake up feeling much better.

I thought this was the beginning of morning sickness when it started. Still waiting until the AM for them to confirm if I have a UTI.. what a mess! Send me up some prayers!

They confirmed today that I didn't have a UTI after all, I'm so glad I made them do another test to send out for culture b/c I didn't need to take the meds. I wish doctors would pay attention to your chart. If they understood my other conditions they would know that blood in my urine is normal due to my IC. I'm glad it turned out okay!

Hey everyone, I survived the worst of this virus. I'm feeling a lot better today and my temp is back to normal. I'm able to eat and drink today without loosing it. I'm just feeling weak but I'm sure it will pass the more I get to eat and drink. Thank God yesterday is behind me.

I too hate taking meds while being pg. I have had reoccuring uti's and had two with this pg. It's awful I had no signs of them. I was in and out of the er all the time and ended up seeing a urologist who put me on an antibiotic to take right after bd and 8 hrs after that. I was also told to take 1000 mgs of vitamin c it makes your urine more acidicy. I hope you get this all figured out and fell better soon. It can be very scary and especially when you are not feeling good that stinks. Best wishes to you and your baby....

Melo- I'm sorry you are going thru this. Like everyone said, you need to be put on IV. I'm 9 weeks pg and although my dehydration wasn't caused by a virus, I had the same symptoms as yours, weakness etc and my only salvation was IV. I was feeling better within hours but unfortunately I've had to make several trips back to the hospital coz my dehydration is being caused by m/s.

You and your lil peanut will be in my prayers.

I got the flu at about 14 weeks and my dr said b/c of all the throwing up I had ot go to the hospital and be put on IV. all they gave me was fluid to keep me and baby hydrated. You might want to consider that if you dont feel better soon or if you cant keep anything down. I was in for am maybe 6 hours and did feel better after.

I'm sorry you feel so bad.  If you keep getting worse, and you can't keep any water down you should really consider going to the ER.  Being pregnant, the best thing would be to get IV fluids which will help keep baby and you healthy, and even if you are still vomiting it will help you feel not as weak.  As long as the Doc's know you are pregnant they will only give you fluids, which will not be harmful for baby at all.
I'll say a prayer also that you feel better really fast.

Thanks, I imagine I'll have to go tomorrow if I continue to be this sick tonight. I'm very weak too, I wanted to get showered up just in case I have to go but I just don't think I can do it right now.

I'm so sorry! That's terrible. My sister caught a severe case of the stomach flu when she was around 10 weeks. She ended up losing several pounds over the week and was so sick that she couldn't even be left alone she was so weak. She couldn't even think of drinking water...and I would bring her different flavor Gatorades which she would take a sip of then throw up too. Eventually she was able to keep a little bit of it down. They did put her on an IV for a few hours but that was it. I felt soooo bad for her. She got over it and sure did make up for that weight she lost though LOL I will be praying for you and your little peanut...
