Au Naturale or help with clomid

hello ladies,

Well I started clomid in Nov/08 and got a BFP in January/09 but it was not sticky and I had a miscarriage early in the pregnancy. I had to let my cycles level out and went with out clomid for a few months. I have been back on clomid since end of march/09. Although it is great and helpful with ovulation. However I am pretty sure that I have no endometrial lining and my period is basically down to about 24 hours and out of those 24 hours I might actually bleed (sorry TMI) for like 8-10 hours. I am also dry and have no CM after using the cervical mucous. So at this time, I am going to try making this baby au naturale!! I just need a break from clomid for a little bit.

Anyone try this? anyone take a break from clomid for awhile?

Hi. I have just quit clomid. I was only on it for 6 months but had the same problem as you - virtually no CM & V light AF.

I have been reading a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It stresses in the book the importance of CM. I truly believe the lack of CM hindered me in achieving a pregnancy despite trying to substitute with pre-seed.

I know there are lots of success stories with women claiming it is the miracle drug & without a doubt it does help some people but unless you need it to simulate/produce ovulation then I would try without it.

If you fancy a 'baby au naturale' buddy then I will be doing the same from now on so feel free to add me as a friend!!

Good luck =)

Hey Tink

thanks. I think that having no CM is a huge issue and I am not sure pre-seed is cutting it. I also think that my AF being virtually non-existent is a problem too. Even if those spermies meet that eggie, there is no way it could implant.  So I think I am will be going at it this way for a little while.

How long has it been since you quit the clomid? I have TCOYF book maybe I will take another look at it.

I just got off clomid also.I  hardly had  any cm also . I really believe that  the lack of it effected my chances of getting pregnant too! This month is natural and I will be waiting to see if  cm improves.
Would you like to form some sort of group or post so that we can communicate during this natural cycle off clomid?

mrs_hynes I had one month off in April as I developed a lovely large cyst and then went back on last month but at 100mg. I started taking it the beginning of this year. This is the first month that I can say I am NOT going to go back to it :) I am CD9 and started taking EPO today so hoping that helps with the CM this month. I am pleased you have the TCOYF book I have never been so hungry for information since I started this long journey and out of all the books I have read it seems to be the only one that make the point that CM is SO important.... I am really hoping it is the key!! I am not sure I want to try the suggestion of using actual egg whites though!! Would you try that??

selaiwa - As you know I have been following your journey for a while and am always routing for you - you seem to go through the same ups and downs as me so lets hope we both get our BFP's together now that we have taken the brave step to ditch the clomid!!!!

Yes I think a post/thread would be interesting and hopefully for the switch to natural from clomid & hopefully will be the best move we all made!!!

Good luck ladies.... remember if you don't give up you can't be beaten =)

Hey ladies,

I am kinda nervous about this whole thing...I think that I am worried that I won't know when I will O. I think I will just bd starting at CD 12 to confirmation of ovulation? Does this sound like a goood plan?

Clomid was my ovulation security blanket...lol..maybe I need to buy more opk's this month so I can test everyday!!hahahha

by usuk, Jun 22, 2009 12:25PM
just letting you know that it does not have to be clomid or naturale. got preg on clomid twice but had mc twice. mc was not because of lining. so now on follistim which does the same only a bit more aggressive. it's expensive if your insurance does not cover it though. good luck :)

Good luck with the ovulation detection.... Are you taking your temp and using OPK's? I know its not fail proof but wil give you a very good indication. Stressing about it not feeling in control might delay it.

I bought a Clearblue fertility monitor which takes the guessing out of ovualtion time and sometimes cross check it against OPK's. The monitor gives you an indication that estrogen is building up which is like a warning that ovulation is nearing. This is great for us as we have to plan our BD carefully because OH has a low sperm count... we can use the meduim days to abstain as we have to wait for a few days to let them build up. I am always so scared about missing the day that we always seem to 'release' the nicely built up collection a day early so when the day comes there isn't the volume needed to get me pregnant!!

Oh well.... my time will come. Good luck and get busy - looks like your O is any day :)

Hey there,

I am kinda worried about getting the right now. however I think I am going to start bd'ing on CD 12 every other day. However I am temp'ing and opk. I think  that I am kinda feeling less pressure!! I am not worried like ..i only have three more rounds of clomid and i don't make it then i what will i do. Since i'm not doing clomid I don't feel the same pressure.

How does the monitor work? do you have to poas everyday to see the estrogen?

Hi Mrs H,

Sounds like you have it sorted... without the clomid you should be fine with BD every other day as your CM will be much more 'fertile' and keep those little swimmer alive =)

The monitor works by asking you to test (POAS) every day from about CD9. When I was taking clomid CD3-7 my ovulation was pretty much clockwork for CD14/15 so I only tested from CD12 as knew it wouldnt be before then and it would waste test sticks which can be pricey!! It doesn't matter if you miss a test it will just prompt you to take another take a test the next day. Once you have got to the LH surge PEAK day the monitor doesnt ask you to test anymore.

I was certain I would get my peak day today as I have had a row of medium days which is really unusual for me and thought I had messed up the plan as OH was getting fed up waiting to BD so gave in to him last night and was dreading testing this morning. I was convinced I would see a peak today and as we have to BD every other day & that would of messed the 'plan' up!!.. To my surprise I got another medium day yay so hopefully I will get the peak tomorrow.

Hello ladies,
Waiting for our peak days are pretty stressful isn't it?  I am so scared that I will miss it but if we stick to the plan of BD'ing every other day  I don't see how we can.
tink= I had to cave in to DH also this morning!  I wanted to wait until tomarrow but, I still have a way to go until ovulation though so I am not that worried. My CP is medium and texture is not soft enough.
MrsHynes=Are you checking your cervical postion and texture? When it gets soft you know you are going to O soon!
BTW I am not doing any OPK's this month!! I know,it is pretty scary but I am sick of POAS! I am just going to stick to my plan. I do have to say it feels good and alot less stressful. I feel as though I am finally living a normal life!
  Have a great day ladies!!

I forgot to add that if you are Bd'ing it is hard to go by cm as it will be mixed. Checking your cervix is the best way to go.It is weird ,but after awhile checking you will know what signs to look for. It starts out hard(like the tip of your nose) then gets soft and sort of mushy.(this is the best time to bd).I don't really go by postion so much because it is different for everyone.

Thanks ladies...I am glad that I would peak without clomid and it woudl be so strong. I am so happy. I went to the doc today and he is still going to have me do blood work on cd 21 to make sure that I ovulate and know what the numbers are!! so that's good he said that with all of the side effects I was having it was a good idea that i stop and take a break from the clomid.

by tinkerbell101, Jun 26, 2009 11:17PM
Hi Ladies... I am still waiting, I have that sinking feeling that it won't happen for me this month but trying to stay focused!! I too have a 21 day blood booked but its only 3 days away and definately haven't O yet so can't see the point really!! Mrs H I am so pleased for you that you got your strong OPK+ without the clomid - I can't wait to hear what your numbers are. I really hope that our 'conspiracy' plan works and you get a BFP this month.... you can be our inspiration and Selaiwa and me can follow in your glory!

by tinkerbell101, Jun 27, 2009 02:46AM
....3 hours later and I JUST GOT A PEAK!!! Yay. I haven't had an OPK+ yet but my monitor is really sensitive so will prob get one tonight.

Hallelujah O at last!

by selaiwa, Jun 27, 2009 11:29AM
That is great news!!
Guess what? Last night I went to the $ store and saw OPK"s, so I bought 2 of them.I took one last night and it looked the same as the control line.I just took the other one 30 minutes ago and got a positive.I can't believe it!! That was the best $2.00 that I ever spent!! We BD'd last night and this morning. We are going to wait until tomarrow morning to Bd again. I am so happy that we are all getting an lh surge without clomid. It feels GREAT!!!
We went to see Transformers last night with our boys.It was really good!! But it was a  2 1/2 hour long movie!! We didn't get home until midnight.

by mrs_hynes, Jun 27, 2009 01:06PM
congrats on the peak ladies!!! I had my very strong OPK + a couple of days ago and I still have not had a temp surge...I guess I got the OPK + a few days before the actual O. I BD the day of the OPK + and the next day and will do it again today (temps still low and likely O'ing today) and hope for the temp surge. I am super tired so must be O'ing.

My doc was really supportive of me going off the AF. I told him that I would  do the cd 21 blood. He told me that if I am pretty sure of when I ovulate then I can do the blood about 5 days after the O. He said that they just say CD  21 b/c its based on people ovulating on CD 15. I will do my blood work later this week. There is a place I go on my way home from work so likely it will be on thursday. I work from home on Fridays so I likely won't do it then.

All the best ladies!! Can't wait to hear about some BFP around here!!

Oh ya...the last two bd'ing I used my last of the pre-seed...figured that it couldn't hurt!!

Keep me posted :)

by mrs_hynes, Jun 29, 2009 06:10PM
Well ladies,

I had a low-ish temp today and I am not sure what is up with that. I am 2 dpo and maybe it was just a fall back rise or something. I am still having some cramping that feels like ovulation or af maybe is just post O cramping..not sure.

Hope everyone is have a good TWW

by selaiwa, Jun 30, 2009 12:25PM
Hello ladies,
Well I am in the TWW.I started a new post for TWW in July.I am, hoping that we get more women who are ttc after stopping meds to see if anyone gets a BFP.I am curious to see if it will work for us. If not I probably will try meds again but I have to say it does feel good not taking them.I hope that you will post there.   BABY DUST *******
