Congrats!!! This is a very exciting time. I used a baby bjorn and loved it! With my first child, I just borrowed a cheap model from a friend (can't even remember the brand?) but it was terrible. It was difficult to get on and offered no support. I too have back problems, so I would recommend spending a little extra more and getting a good one. I have never used the other type so I cannot tell you how well it works. WIth my second child I spent the $ and bought a baby bjorn. My boys were only 20months a part so needless to say I used it alot. I took him everywhere in it (grocery store...works great!) plus used it quite a bit around the house. He and I loved it!!!  Best of luck!

Personally I don't like any of the ones that are typically found in national stores, liek the bjorn. I find some of the others are better designed and work with your body and baby better.

I have an Ergo and a Beco. I LOVE them both. Both are great for infants and go up to 45 (i think) pounds. My 5 year old is only about 35 and I have carried her in there. I do carry my 3 yo quite a bit, she is about 28 lbs. Very comfy. Be sure to educate yourself on proper baby placement. That will be necessary for your back, but also for baby's development. Essentially baby should look like they are sitting in a chair and they should face you both on front and back. Hips should be square, knees slighly above hips and knees at at 90* angle. This will be sure there are no stressor points on baby's back or knees. I can't recommend that site enough, I LOVE it! Plus there is a marketplace where you can buy and sell used carriers, which is great for figuring out which one you want. Everyone is shaped differently and they don't all work for everyone.

I also had a wrap with my girls when they were little. LOVED it, but there is a huge learning curve.

Oh! It's so exciting to see so many moms baby wearing! :)

My absolute favorite is the Maya Ring Sling. I have many carriers and wear this one out! Literally.
