How much stuff are you going to keep after baby grows out of it?

I was wondering how much out of everything that a baby uses should you keep once they've outgrown it. My son is 6 months old and I'm debating whether I should keep his bassinet and his bouncers and his kickin' coaster and bathtub, things like that. I want more kids, but I'm not sure I want them any time soon. So I don't know if it's worth it to keep all the big stuff in storage. I just don't know if I should keep it all or take it to Once Upon A Child or sell it at a garage sale and just rebuy it later. How much do you guys usually keep after a baby? I'm keeping pretty much all my sons clothes, I'm just not sure about the other stuff. What do you guys do?

I kept everything I could store!! I bought either or stuff as car seats and swings for that reason. I would keep the plastic stuff for up to 3 years in case you have another one, passed that you would get another shower hopefully and the plastic fades some fater depending on the temperature conditions of wher it is stored. IF things come out stained, wet them in the wash and hang outside to destain anything! Swings and things like that as long as you take the battery's out are good to keep as they go up in price so much! About 70 dollars for my swing in 7 years! Bassinet  a yes for sure! If later you decided you do not want anymroe children as long as it has been stored good you can sell it then but it is still early for you now. One of my friends got rid if everything on EBAY and then she had another boy, she was wanting a girl, then she had to rebuy everything again and it was a big cost to her once she had already bought then 3 years before! I have used things from my first son who is 13 for Henry! Clothes keep and some toys and I am very glad I have them. I actually got rid of some things 5 years ago when I moved to another state, I had my tubes tied and though I would not have anymore children, but other plans were in store for me:)

So what ever you can store good and comfortably keep! ODn;t forget to take the batteries out of things before you store though

If you have to pay to store things, forget it, you'll pay more to store them than they cost in a surprisingly short time.  If you have a lot of mouseproof storage, keep the good stuff.  Keep in mind that things go out of date and get subject to recalls (my son's crib was obsolete for that reason in only 3 years) so if you want to sell them, sell them when they are rather new.  I kept some things but when I get to the point where I'm sure there is no future baby, out it all goes, sentiment be darned.  I dislike feeling like our house is a storage unit.

Yeah, we live in a house right now that has very little storage except a naassssty basement filled with the owners ****. So that would be the only place to store things. Although I guess I could store some stuff at my moms, up in the workshop, although I'm not sure how much cleaner that would be. I don't even know if I want to have another baby honestly. Sometimesi do but then other times I think how could I possibly want another my little guy is so perfect. Lol but we all think that don't we. Lol

I kept my son's clothes but gave away or sold everything else since I wasn't sure when I would be having another baby. Here it is almost 9 yrs later and I would have replaced everything anyhow. I am going through his clothes and finding that while some of them I will still use many just seem "outdated" lol even though they are baby clothes. This time around I don't think I'll keep all the clothes either. Good luck (:

I get rid of things after our child grows out of them and I am glad I did, our children are spaced out by 4 yrs.  so I could not imagine lugging around all of our baby stuff plus the new stuff that little boys require.  Even twice a year I go through the kids clothes and donate their old clothes to either a mother with boys close in size or to the Goodwill stores.  With a growing family we just don't have space to hold on to all of those things.

Wow I had no idea that car seats expire because I have never kept one after they used it, but that makes sense.  I guess too if you buy anything at all used you should check and make sure it is not recalled too.

If you have space and you are in one place for a while, then I guess it would be great to keep your clothes especially if your children are closely spaced.  We have our children about 4 to 5 years a part and move around about every 4 years or so.

How things are stored matters a lot.  We just gave away two strollers that we had because where we had the space to store them at was causing them to get dry rotted.  So by the time the baby would be even old enough to use the strollers (they were jogging strollers) they would have been ruined.  I would rather give them away then to have them ruined and go unused.

I'm saving everything in Tupperware bins or shrink wrapped to stay clean

Great idea on saving it in the bins, that helps tremendously.  We just never seem to have enough space to save.  I'm already thinking in hindsight that we need a larger house, perhaps a farm would be more appropriate lol

I just keep what baby stuff is special to me and give the rest to good will or other charities.

I kept everything! My son is now 2 and will be 3 a few weeks before my new miracle arrive. I am glad I kept everything, but I an wondering how much is outdated from only 3 years ago. I corrupted a travel system, high chair and pack and play, so as long as we have another boy those are the only things I will have to buy. However if we have a girl we will need to start ask over except the crib

Yeah especially with car seats those can become outdated so easily.

We just had our 3rd boy last week, you would think it would have been easier to keep all their clothes, lol  But yes we spaced our children out by 4 yrs...so made sense to give the stuff away to make space.
