What car seat comes after the infant carrier?

by kindergal, May 14, 2009 02:01PM
I see so many things out there...what comes after they grow out of the infant car seat?  I see convertible seats...along with a few others so I am not sure what is best.

i provided this link so you ladies can check out all the different carseats. i bought my son a Safety 1st carseat. it has an adjustable back that moves vertically as he grows. and it also transforms into a booster seat for when he's older. it also comes with a cupholder.

if you are a little nervous about which carseat is best... make sure you do a little research. narrow it down to a few favorites.... then research like crazy. good luck ladies.

I bought my son an evenflo seat. It was nice because it can be rear or front facing. He was clearly too big for his infant seat, so we bought this one and used it as the rear facing seat until he was a 1. Now he faces forward and I love the seat. It has 3 reclining positions which is nice because when he is sleeping I don't have to worry about his head being slumped over. Research it and find the best seat for your child. =)

So, is it the convertible style that comes after the infant carrier or do you go to a high back booster.....I guess that is more specific to my question...what style seat comes next?

hey there! it's just a regular carseat for older babies/toddlers. You don't wanna booster yet, that's when they are preschoolers I believe.
Dh and I just bought Maddie's first 'big girl' carseat (not the infant carrier anymore... she outgrew it big time now) and it's about to arrive. We got a great deal at Amazon.com, we bought the graco nautilus. It has a lot of features and what I like about it (we tested it first in a store) is that it's easy to strap the baby, it's reclinable, it has an extra head support (that is just not a pillowy one, it actually has a metal frame) that stretches as the kid grows and it converts itself in booster. It can be used rear facing and front facing (I think???) and it holds up to 100 lbs!!! so we are all set!... we got it for 140 bucks.. not too bad for all the features! =)
We'll see how it works... =)

A convertible carseat works best when the baby isnt old enough to face front but is too big for the carrier carseat. That's because you can face it either way. that way, when your baby is old enough for a front facing carseat, all you have to do is turn it around.
