a crying baby and a new mommy

My daughter is the new mother of a one month old daughter.  Over the last couple of days she has been very fussy.  My daughter has been a great little momma however she doesn't know what to do.  The baby had some diaper rash and went to the Dr. and got some cream.  It isn't working.  I have read some things about lactose intolerence in babies especially if they have any Asian in them.  She is maby one quarter Asian (father is maybe half Asian and White) and then ( momma) White.  Anyway, I read that if she is lactose intolerant, she is getting it from the milk the mother is drinking.  Is that correct?  I say she is fussy because the diaper rash is hurting her.  My daughter is unsure and she is the mom and may have some kind of intuition I don't since it's her child.  She could also be a bit overreacting due to she is a new momma.  I explained to her that she can't show or try to hide any frustrations with the baby because she will pick up on that.  She says if she feels that way at all, she gives her to her daddy.  They are trying very hard to be great parents but this time they seem to be stumped.  Could it be she is just got a diaper rash and she's uncomfortable?  She's had it for over a week now and I know if it were me, I'd be getting sick of it too!  They finally gave her some children's Tylenol, with the correct dose for her age and weight.  She went to sleep finally.  So any input on this would be greatly appreciated and passed on to her.  She is planning a trip to the Dr. tomorrow or the next day.  Thanks so very much!  ~zoo

More likely to be rash than lactose intolerance from mother's milk.

When I breastfed my 2nd son initially I could not drink milk products at all, he would get spots on his bum.  The only thing that helped was butt paste... and yes that is the actual name of the product.  That and not consuming milk products.  After a day or so the rash cleared up.  Baths helped the rash too, so maybe give a nice bath first to ease the little bum and then use butt paste.  Let us know the results.  Also the brand of diaper can have an impact...if you use disposables or cloth.  I had to use cloth with this one, because certain diapers, ironically the more expensive ones, caused a rash.  Hope this helps.
