Bulging Disc in Back

Im only 17 years old, and have just been diagnosed with a bulging disc in my spine. I havent yet been to a specialist, so I dont know how bad it is. What I want to know is, what could have caused this? I do no sports, no heavy lifting, im not really much into alot of physical activity. I've never had any injuries, never been in any car accidents, never fallen or anything of the sort. I just dont know how this could have happened. Could anyone give me some advice?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
We do see more and more young people with back problems. Apart from genetic factors that we cannot change, poor posture is an important reason. Please visit my blog at http://neurospine.blogspot.com on info and treatment.

Hi Deserae. I see you are from KCK, I live just outside KCMO.
I am really sorry to hear that you are having back problems at such a young age. I have many spinal issues that started out with a bulging disc. I went for years without medical treatment and am now paying the price for it.
I don't know what caused your problem but I suggest that you consult with your doctor and get on an exercise program to strengthen your back and stomach muscles. The exercises for this are really simple and well worth the effort. Take good care of yourself now so that you don't end up like me in 10 years.
